Mary Jean Yockey, 85, of Bremen passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at10:50AM at the Bremen Health Care Center after a brief illness. She graduated from Bremen High School in 1943 and was the class salutatorian. She was a farmwife and also worked at Boremans, and retired from Universal Bearings.
Mary was born September 24, 1925 in Columbia City to Elery E. & Mary Brown Wakeman Wolfe.
On October 22, 1946 Mary married Ernest Alden Yockey, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She loved reading, gardening and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Rose Collins of Bourbon and Janet Flegel of Hope, IN, 4 sons: Ernest Yockey, Jr. of Bremen, Bruce (Debbie) Yockey of Bremen, Philip Yockey of Plymouth and Keith Yockey of Plymouth. She also had 4 grandchildren: Joshua Flegel of Lander, WY, Jonathan and Jennifer (Passen) Flegel and of Muncie, Jeanna (Collins) and Andy Lidecker of Bremen and Danielle Collins of Bourbon, sister Betty Warner of Leesburg, FL, 5 brothers: Elery "Bub" Wolfe of Scottsdale, AZ, Ted Wolfe of Kennesaw, GA, Lincoln Wolfe of Valley Springs, CA, Robert Wolfe of Bremen and Lynn Wolfe of Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Susan, a son-in-law Gary Collins and grandson Nathan Collins, 2 sisters: Evelyn M. Forsythe and Marjorie Conner and brother Charles Wolfe.
Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Gail Law. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nathan Collins Scholarship Fund.
