Shirley Beth Naile Woolfitt, 63, of Norfolk, VA, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2011. She was born on September 21, 1947 in Greensburg, IN, to James Harvey and Joyce Helen Sapsford Naile. On September 8, 2001 she married Robert A. Woolfitt, MD.
Shirley was the owner of Melange, a Norfolk women's boutique. A tireless community-minded volunteer, she participated in Read for the Blind, was on the board of Virginia Opera and then on the coordinating committee of Lyric Opera Virginia. She was a dear friend to many. Shirley will be sorely missed by the family that loved her dearly and will live in their hearts forever.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her stepdaughter, Katherine Woolfitt, Washington, DC; her mother, Joyce H. Naile, Jaye Peterson, a lifelong friend of the family, both of Hendersonville, NC; sisters Andrea Lynne Naile and Julia Rae Ormiston and her husband Donald, all of Fort Wayne, IN, and Vivian Sue LaVine and her husband, Eric, of Nappanee, IN; nephews Scott Lawson of Indianapolis, Bradley Lawson of South Bend, IN, Travis LaVine of Nappanee; nieces Sascha Escue and Meryl Feathers, both of Indianapolis, Alycia Miller of Auburn, IN, Kerygan and Madysen LaVine of Nappanee; grandnephews Wrigley Miller and Turner Miller of Auburn; grandnieces Iris Timpe, Ava Feathers and Zoe Escue, all of Indianapolis. Shirley's father predeceased her.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on May 16 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, IN.
A funeral service for Shirley is scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 17 at Mishler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery. .
