Lee C. Lakins, 83, of Bremen passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Community Hospital of Bremen. He was born on May 30, 1927 in Rutledge, TN to James & Eva (Carpenter) Lakins. On February 21, 1950 he married Kathryn M. Turley in Middleboro, KY, she preceded him in death on June 1, 1995. On July 10, 1999 he married Shirley Young at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen. She survives.
Lee was a WWII Army veteran and came to Bremen in February 19, 1948. He worked at Bremen Clay products (Old Tile Mill) until 1951, started work at Bendix in 1951, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Bremen VFW.
Survivors include wife Shirley Lakins of Bremen, sons Rick Lakins of Columbia City, Jack (Pam) Lakins of Plymouth and Mike (Trena) Lakins of Bremen, daughter Barbara (Chuck) Goble, stepson Kenneth (Pat) Young of Mishawaka, stepdaughters Elaine Young & Janet (Terry) Miller of Bremen, Cheryl (Don) Brier of Lafayette, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild, brother John Lakins of Rutledge, TN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, first wife, 3 brothers: Roy Lakins, Joe "Deaver" Lakins and infant Harrison Lakins, 2 sisters: Trula Dalton & Dolly Smith.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (605 S. Center St.), Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Roger Rohde. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery with full military rites.
Friends may call from 4 ? 8PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the church.
