Richard "Dick" LaVine, 83, of Wyatt passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his residence.
He was born January 19, 1928 in Mishawaka to Chester Leo & Pearl Liona (Waikel) LaVine. On June 29, 1947 he married Wilma L. Manges, she survives.
Dick was a US Army Veteran and was retired from the telephone company. He was a member Bremen United Methodist Church and member of the Telephone Pioneers. He loved all sports; played volleyball as recently as last December, softball, golfing and water skiing.
Survivors include wife of 63 years Wilma LaVine of Wyatt, son David LaVine and family of Granger, daughter Sharon (Joe) Ford and family of North Liberty, 2 grandchildren: Leslie Shedd & Matthew LaVine, 3 great-grandchildren: Kory, Riley and Jasmin, 3 brothers: Alfred LaVine of South Bend, Burnett LaVine of Delton, MI, & Lyle LaVine of Plymouth, 2 sisters: Edna Bunch of Mishawaka & Treva Bope of Winter Haven, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant daughters and brother Morris LaVine.
Funeral will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Bremen United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8PM on Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
