Fredonna Custer-Ruch

Fredonna Custer-Ruch, 83, of Grace Village Nursing Home, Winona Lake, formerly of Leesburg & Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Grace Village Nursing Home in Winona Lake. She was born August 14, 1927 in Elkhart County to Raymond & Elva (Vorhis) Bitner. In 1947 she married Raymond Custer, he preceded her in death in 1986. She then married Elmer Ruch in 1998, he preceded her in death in 2008.

Fredonna was a homemaker, was employed at Campbell's Supermarket, the Mail-Journal, Penguin Point & G.L. Perry. She sold Avon for many years.

and member of the Christian Church of Milford. She was a member of Tippy Lee Home Economics Club, the Melloaires, Kosciusko County Democrats Women's Organization and Democratic Hall of Fame recipient. She was a member of Milford Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Hex-Grange and a candidate for Kosciusko County Treasurer.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Rosanna (David) Keffer of Fishers, Terri (Chris) Grabill of Wakarusa, 2 sons: Jon (Laura) Custer of Leesburg, George (Kim) Custer of Cincinnati, OH, 2 sisters: Evelyn Jones of Warsaw and Phyllis (Clair) Archer of Cromwell, 1 brother Gerald (Pat) Bitner of Syracuse, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Christian Church of Milford and will be officiated by Pastor Stephen Leininger and Pastor Glenn Byers. Burial will follow at the Milford Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 ? 4PM and 6 ? 8PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Milford and one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Kohmen Foundation or to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice.
