Bernice Hummel

Bernice M. Hummel, 90, of Bremen, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Bremen Health Care Center. She was born October 25, 1920 in Bremen to Arthur C. & Ruth (Carbiener) Johnson. On April 4, 1940 she married Dale Hummel, he preceded her in death. Bernice graduated from Madison School in 1938 and was a member of Bremen United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful mother, housewife and a compassionate and generous friend to all who knew her.

Survivors include sons Gerald "Jerry" (Betty) Hummel of Lake of the Woods, Bremen and Dennis (Debbie Stull) Hummel of North Liberty, Alan Hummel of Bremen, grandsons Gary Hummel of Bremen, Tim Kulczar of Bremen, Matthew (Jennifer) Hummel of North Liberty, great-grandsons Chad Hummel and Christopher Kulczar, great-granddaughters: Wendy (Brian) McLaughlin, Cloey Hummel, Brittany Hummel, great-great-grandchildren: Braden, Keely McLaughlin, several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren, sisters: June Bole of Bremen, Marie (Norman) Bollenbacher and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, infant son Stanley and, infant granddaughter Kathy Jo Hummel, and granddaughter Lori Kulczar.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30PM on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 ? 4PM & 6 ? 8PM on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice or to the Bremen United Methodist Church.
