Elizabeth "Betty" Thayer

Elizabeth "Betty" M. Thayer, 89, of Portland, Oregon, formerly of Bremen passed away on Wednesday October 13, 2010 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home, Portland, OR.

She was born January 3, 1921 in Bremen to John & Alvine (Stockinger) Ryder. On April 9, 1949 she married Robert Thayer, he preceded her in death.

Elizabeth graduated from Ft. Wayne Business School in 1941 and worked in Public Relations for Swift Company. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen and volunteered at St. Paul's Lutheran School for 20 years.

Survivors include son James (Debra) Thayer of Portland, OR, daughter Linda (Henry) Chen of Towson, MD and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and brother Jack Ryder.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (605 S. Center St., Bremen) and will be officiated by Pastor Roger Rohde. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 ? 8PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
