Della Baumgartner

Della Marie Baumgartner, 90, Milford, passed away at 1:12 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in Goshen Hospital where she had been a patient for several days.



She was born December 14, 1919, in Bluffton to Noah Frederick and Estina Frauhiger. She married Arch Baumgartner on February 6, 1943 in Orlando, FL. He preceded her in death in 1988.



She is a 1938 graduate of Warsaw High School. She joined her husband in the publishing business in Milford in 1945 and assumed a wide variety of responsibilities centering around bookkeeping and business management. When The Papers Incorporated was formed in March 1973 she became the secretary-treasurer. She was The Papers Incorporated's Publisher Emeritus at the time of her death.



She served as president of the Columbia Reading Circle, Milford, which refurbished the lakeside area at Waubee Park. She also chaired a group of Milford citizens who gathered Mental Health Christmas gifts. She also served on the board for the development of Leisure Living Apartments, Milford.

She and her husband were co-chairs of the United Way drive in Milford for a number of years and of the Milford Parent Teacher Organization, instrumental in the outside basketball court being installed.



She was president of the Wawasee Boster Club at Syracuse, prior to the opening of Wawasee High School in 1968.



She was a member of Milford United Methodist Church and served on the church financial commission and was a member of the United Methodist Pastoral Relations committee

Survivors include a son, Ronald, Syracuse; three grandchildren, Christine (Jeremy) Corson, Warsaw; Jennifer, Chicago; and Jason (Dalia Brahmi) Yoder, Geneva, Switzerland; four great-grandchildren, Claire and Benjamin Corson and Elias and Camila Yoder; one brother, Ralph, Goshen; and three sisters, Lucille Lundgren, Wakarusa, Marjorie Suter and Elizabeth Schussele, both of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Yoder Redmond; grandson, Craig Yoder; daughter-in-law, Gloria Baumgartner; two sisters, Velma Beck and Jane Everett; four brothers, Herman, Ervin, Kenneth and Noah Jr. Frauhiger.



Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Milford United Methodist Church with Rev. L. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Mishler Funeral Home, SR 15S, Milford.
