A choir of angels sang when Ilean J. (Jones) Schultz went home to her beloved Jesus. She died Thursday, August 19 at her home in Plymouth. Ilean was born on October 31, 1921 in Pierceton, Indiana to Clyde S. and Bessie (Miller) Jones. They relocated to Mishawaka, IN while she was still a child.
She graduated from Mishawaka High School and also attended Indiana University at South Bend; Ancilla College, Donaldson and the Billy Graham School of Christian Writing, Minnesota.
On February 12, 1949 she married a young, handsome pilot named Loren A. Schultz and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Ilean was a respected licensed Realtor and real estate broker for many years. She and her husband owned Schultz Realty with locations in Plymouth and Mishawaka until their retirement in the late 1980's. Previously, they had owned a number of restaurants in the Michiana area as well as Pigeon Forge, TN.
Active in the Plymouth community for many years, she was a co-founder of the Marshall County Meals-on-Wheels program as well as past president of Welcome Wagon and the Parkview Ladies Auxiliary. Ilean was a long -time member of the First Methodist Church, Plymouth where she was active in the Ladies' Guild and Joy Breaks, which she dearly loved. She was a member of a prayer chain team and devout in her intercessory prayer.
She and her husband traveled extensively throughout their years together. Whether it was driving along treacherous Western US canyon roads at midnight or mistakenly leading the entire family into a remote lumberjack camp in Michigan's northern peninsula, she was always eager to share the memories of their trips.
Ilean is survived by her husband, Loren as well as a daughter, Karen (John) Keleher of Granger, IN and two sons, Dennis (Roberta) Schultz of Augusta, GA and Michael (Sheila) Schultz of Maryville, TN. Also left to cherish the memory of their "Nanny" are four grandchildren: Adam (Lori) Dombkowski, Valparaiso, IN; Alyssa (Louis) Schultz Cogswell, Augusta, GA; Matthew Schultz, Augusta, GA and Brian (Tina) Rains, Plymouth, IN. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Wava Eslinger and Ruth Jones.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 22 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, IN. A short graveside service will follow at 4:00 PM at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot, IN with Rev. Charles Kreig officiating.
