Warren George Koontz, 87 of Bremen passed away on August 5, 2010 at 10:10 am
at Bremen Health Care. He was born April 21, 1923 in Bremen to George and Dora (Zentz) Koontz. Warren married Kathryn Kuntz on June 1, 1942, she survives.
Warren was a retired carpenter and was the former owner of Koontz Greenhouse and Floral Shop. He was a 1942 graduate of Bremen High School and proudly served his Country, serving during WWII in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 191 in Bremen where he served as commander for over 20 years. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW in Bremen, a member of the Grissom Air Museum and the Arbor Day Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of 68 years, three daughters, Alice (Michael) Henning, Bremen, Susan (Dan) Barr, Bremen, Melissa (Tim) Maas, Edwardsville, IL, and one son, Robert (Nancy) Koontz, Bremen. Also surviving are eight grand children, 12 great grandchildren and one brother, Calvin (Evelyn) Koontz, Plymouth.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rolland and Lowell and two sisters, Bontia Koontz and Donna Hand.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11 am at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen With Pastor Neil Wonnacott officiating. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery, with military honors.
