Erwin Holewinski, Sr.

Erwin A. Holewinski, Sr., 90, Bremen died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his home. He was born August 5, 1919 to Casimir & Martha(Urbanski) Holewinski.

In February 1944 he married Mary Ann Nicholas. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2008.

Mr. Holewinski has been retired since the mid 70's.

He served with honor in WWII having been a gunner in the tank corps fighting in

The Pacific Theater earning the Purple Heart for injuries he received at The Battle of Okinawa.

He is survived by two sons, Erwin, Jr. "Bud" (Brenda) of Elkhart and Dennis of Lakeville, 4 grandchildren; Kirk (Donna) Holewinski of Bristol, Amberley Fenner of Middlebury, Tabbitha "Tabby" Sauter of Bremen, and one deceased; Kristian Ann Holewinski. He also has one great granddaughter, Mariah Holewinski of Goshen, one surviving sister, Caroline Bognar of South Bend, 3 nieces, Joyce (Clarence) Kaminski, Carol Ann (Ed) Paltier, Michelle Molina.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Friends may call from 4:00PM ? 8:00PM on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen VFW.

A remembrance celebration of their lives will be had at a later date.
