Pauline Laidig

Pauline Anna Laidig, 98, passed away at 3:45a.m. on Friday, Apr. 9, 2010 at the Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen. She was born on July 2, 1911 in Oakville, IA to Henry & Emma (Gerst) Binkele. She married Silas R. Laidig on Feb. 19, 1939 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1978. She was also preceded in death by son Eldon Keith, a grandson Keith Rager, 5 sisters: Vera Klaus, Frieda Hoerr, Esther Hoerr, Emma Eshelman, and Dorothy Haefli, and 4 brothers: Otto, Henry, Rudy and Elmer Binkele.

She was cherished by her 6 children and their spouses: Juanita Laidig of Goshen, James (Barbara) Laidig of Bremen, Karen (Darrel) Sommers of Goshen, Sharon (Walter) Rager of Toledo, OH, Roger (Susan) Laidig of Mishawaka and Linda (Robert) Smith of Ft. Wayne. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by 2 sisters and 2 brothers from Peoria, IL: Matilda Faughn, Bette Binkele, Richard (Gladys) Binkele, and Robert (Bernetta) Binkele; sister-in-law Aldean Feldman of Bremen and many nieces and nephews.

During her life Pauline was a busy and devoted farmer's wife and a very loving and caring mother to her family. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Christian Church of South Bend. Pauline was a generous, kind-hearted and godly woman and her passing will leave a void in the hearts of many.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wed, April 14, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Church of South Bend with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM on Tues, April 13, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and one hour before the service at the Apostolic Christian Church of South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Apostolic Christian Church of South Bend (15961 Madison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544), the Apostolic Christian Church Home for the Handicapped (2125 Veterans Road, Morton, IL 61550) or to the organization of your choice.
