Joan Marie Bremer

Joan Marie Bremer, 72, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Lake of the Woods, Bremen passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Lakeland, FL. She was born on July 27, 1937 in East Chicago, IN to Frank and Helen Smith. Joan graduated from Bishop Noll High School in Hammond in 1953. On October 15, 1955 she married William Bremer, he survives.

After marriage they lived in Hammond, they then moved to Lake of the Woods, Bremen in 1971, where they resided until moving to Mulberry, FL in 1991. Joni worked for Desco Chemical in Nappanee and then IMC/Mosaic in Florida before retiring.

She leaves behind her 3 daughters: Becky (Wayne) Mishler, Barb (Steve) Court and Bonny (Lynn) Marshall, all of Bremen, 9 grandchildren: Mandy, Will, Katie, Andrew, Emily, Michael, Joey, Danielle and Stephen, 6 great-grandchildren: Cole, Jordan, Cory, Jaden, Abraham and Madalynn. Joni's siblings include 2 sisters Frances Felus of Hammond and Emily Smith of Mulberry, FL and brother Rudy (Martha) Smith of Decatur, MI.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents, brother Danny Smith and her great-granddaughter Callie Grace VanTornhout.

Joni's life was her family and our lives will not be the same without her.

Cremation has taken place in Florida.

Friends may call from noon on Sunday, March 21, 2010 until the time of service at the funeral home.

The memorial service will take place at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and will be officiated by Father Polycarp Fernando. Entombment will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.
