George D. Hatfield, 87, of Warsaw passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at Mason Healthcare in Warsaw. George was born May 8, 1922 in Warsaw to the late Glenn and Ethel (Davis) Hatfield.
On October 22, 1946 he married Dona Jean Newcomb, she survives.
A lifetime area resident, George retired from Sun Metal in Warsaw where he was a supervisor. He was a member of the Warsaw Elks, American Legion and the Burket United Methodist Church. George proudly served his Country in the Army as a Military Police Officer during World War 2. He loved mushroom hunting, fishing and wood working; George enjoyed going to garage sales, as well as antique auctions. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was loved by all who knew him.
George is survived by, Dona Jean, his loving wife of 60 years, a daughter, Kim (Rick) Deniston, Warsaw, a son Chip (Paula) Gast, Huntington, four grandchildren, Doug Yarian, Chad Silveus, Samira Gast; Charissa Gast. Also surviving is a great grandchild, Nilsson Silveus, Warsaw and one sister, Doris Breeding, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, one brother, Roger, three sisters, Janice, Helen Hays and Elenor Doran.
Services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 10 AM at the
Burket United Methodist Church, 102 S. Market St., Burket with Reverend Chip Gast and Reverend Greig Crowder officiating. A private Burial will take place at Palestine Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Burket United Methodist Church.
