Calvin Shumaker

Calvin J. Shumaker, 82, of Bremen on passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born July 23, 1927 in Bremen to

Victor and Alice (Whiteman) Shumaker. He married Charlotte (Allen) on February 21, 1948. She survives.

Calvin was a US Army WWII Veteran, former owner of Shumaker Builders, and a member of the Bremen VFW and American Legion.

Survivors include wife Charlotte of Bremen, daughter Janice (Dave) Rexstrew of Bremen, son Jack (Cindie) Shumaker of Grand Island, FL, 7 drandchildren: Rob (Dawn) Arndt, Corey (Ivy) Arndt, Joe (Marcie) Arndt all of Bremen, Jennifer (Russ) Yeo, of Bourbon, Jacinda (Justin) Cunningham of Eustis, FL, Sunny (Chris) Jergens of Germantown, OH, Misty (Mario), Escobede of Laporte, and 17 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters: Vonna Miller of Michigan, Lavera (Don) Ames of Plymouth, and Diana Hundt of Bremen.



He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Lucille Reed and Lois Perry, 3 brothers: Ivan, Ronnie, and Wayne, and 1 great-grandson Cody.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Tom Hostetler. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 on Monday, November 30, 2009.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen.
