Donald W. Harley, 85 a lifetime Syracuse area resident, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born February 26, 1924 in Warsaw, IN to George & Mellie (Gaskill) Harley. On July 12, 1975 he married Beverly Kay (Cline) Williams in Kendallville. She survives.
Donald worked at Sea Nymph for 20 years and Lawn Business for 20 years in the Syracuse area. He graduated from New Paris High School in 1941, was a US Army WWII Veteran, member of North Webster United Methodist Church and a member of Turkey Creek Senior Citizens Club for 15 years. He loved bowling and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include wife Beverly Kay Harley of Syracuse, 3 sons: Donald (Dessie) Harley, Jr. of Warsaw, Richard (Barb) Harley of Goshen, Michael (Vickie) Harley of PA, 1 daughter: Linda (Stan) Delagrange of Middlebury, Son-in-law: Bill Schneider of Goshen, Step children: Cassie Williams of Morrison, TN, Mike Williams of Morrison, TN, Myrt Phenis, Caroline Nettrouer, Joan Nichols, Delphine Rogers, 24 grandchildre, 29 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren & numerous step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter Dianne Schneider, 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Dave Smitley and Pastor Brad Cox.
Friends may call from 5 ? 7 PM on Sunday, September 27, 2009 and 1 hour before services on Monday, all at the funeral home.
