Leonard Lawrence Cavender, Sr.

Leonard Cavender of Cromwell passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1915 in Talbot, Indiana to Floyd & Mina Cavender. On June 9, 1940 he married Ruth Swartzell, she survives.

Leonard previously worked at Bendix and Studabaker in South Bend, and retired from International Harvester in LaGrange, Illinois. He was a WWII Army Veteran.

Also surviving are 5 children: Patricia (Edward) Kott of Cromwell; Leonard (Mary) Cavender, II of Chicago, IL; Janet (Craig) Grabiec of Mena, Arkansas; James Duane Cavender of Syracuse; and Michael (Jeanette) Cavender of Santa Clarita, California. 16 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchldren. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Robert Cavender, 1 sister, and 1 brother.

Services will be on Sunday, August 16, 2009, 2:00 PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 15 from 1-5 PM at the Funeral Home.
