Ferl A. "Dusty" Rhoads

Ferl A. Rhoads, 87, of Syracuse, IN passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Goshen General Hospital. He was born February 16, 1922 in Elton, Pennsylvania to Charles Herbert & Laura (Gramling) Rhoads. On April 7, 1946 he married Bertha McClellan, she preceded him in death in 2003.

Dusty was a Syracuse resident for the past 65 years, retired from DANA Corporation in Syracuse, was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for 55 years, a past Boy Scout Master, and a WWII Army Veteran.

Surviving are 4 children: Gwen (Ernie) Leitch of Poland, IN; Laura (Rick) Chupp of Indianapolis, IN; Chuck Rhoads of Morgantown, PA; and Kevin (Kelli) Rhoads of Syracuse, 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, 1 sister: Clema Wingard of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 10, 11:00 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church with Pastors David Herr and Ken Robinson officiating.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 9 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse. Burial will be at a later date in Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to Calvary United Methodist Church or Feed the Children.
