Clara Symond

Clara Symond, 98, of Columbia City and formerly of Syracuse passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 1:50 PM at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born May 21, 1911 to Pantelis & Stella Kasimatis in Rethmeno, Island of Crete, Greece. She was married to Sophos G. Symond, he preceded her in death on July 8, 2001.

Clara was a Syracuse resident for 22 years coming from Pennsylvania, was a homemaker, and attended Living Faith Fellowship Church South and Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Clara Tahmisian of Columbia City and Louise Sweet of Fresno, California; a son: Dr. John Symond of Melrose, Massachusetts; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 step great grandchild; a sister Emily and brother Paul still living in Greece. She was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

Services will be Monday, June 1, 2009, 3:00 PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse with Pastor Don Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday 1 hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
