Irene D. Charlton

Irene D. Charlton, 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare. She was born in Kosciusko County on March 18, 1912 to the late Sanford and Clara (Marquart) Gall.

On May 1, 1929 she married Russell Hollar who preceded her in 1968 and then married Frank Charlton who preceded her in 1986.

Irene was a homemaker and enjoyed helping out on the farm. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grand mother and great great-grandmother. She attended Island Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of the busy homemakers club in Milford.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (John) Mahan, Lafayette, a son, Russell Hollar, Jr., Milford, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 16 great gteat-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Virgie Unbaugh, Nappanee and two brothers, Father Jacob Hollar, Kendallville; James Gall, Leesburg.

Irene was preceded by her parents, both husbands, a step son, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services for Irene will be on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 12:00 PM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery.

Visitation with be two hours prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
