David L. Welker, 64, of Barbee Road, Warsaw, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1944, in Huntington, Indiana to Hersel & Margaret (Hough) Welker. On January 7, 1984 he married Diana J. Foley, she survives.
David was an area resident for 34 years coming from Huntington. He was the Head custodian at Wawasee Middle School, and previous owner of the Barbee Landing, and Foley and Welker Jewelers in Plymouth. He was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the North Webster American Legion, Post 253; Kosciusko County 40 & 8 Voiture; Lifetime member of the Syracuse VFW; member of the Cromwell Masonic Lodge; and a former member of the North Webster Lions. He was a Vietnam Navy Veteran serving 2 tours of duty.
Other survivors include 2 sons: David V. (Kari) Welker of Noblesville and Joseph K. (Kelle) Welker of Plymouth. 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren; 4 sisters: Patty (Joe) Hefferon of St. Augustine, Florida; Peggy (Allen) Young of North Webster; Sandra (Kenneth) Sharp of Warsaw; and Sally (Bill) Johnson of Decatur. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Thomas L. Welker.
Services will be Friday, May 8, 2009, 10:30 AM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition with Military Honors conducted by members of the North Webster American Legion and Syracuse VFW.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 7 from 2-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
