Eldon Dale Manges

Eldon Manges, 88, of Bremen passed away in his residence Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born on March 12, 1921 in Bremen to the late Garrie and Amelia (Berger) Manges. Eldon married Betty L. (Keyser) on November 16, 1941 who preceded him on October 11, 2003.

Eldon was a lifetime Bremen resident and was a 1939 graduate of Madison Township High school. He proudly served his Country in the Army Air Corp during WW2 being stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines. He was a dairy and grain farmer and was presented with the Sagamore of the Wabash by former Governor, Dr. Otis Bowen.

Eldon was a loving father, grand father and great-grand father. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Lions Club and the Bremen VFW. He enjoyed playing practical jokes; his Wednesday golf outings and cards with family and friends.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Jim) Laidig, Wakarusa, Diane (Rick) Unsicker, Elkhart, one son Michael (Renee) Manges, Bremen. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl (Ginny) Manges, Bremen, Lester (Julia) Manges, North Carolina, two sisters, Betty (Fred) Lehman, Nappanee, Rosemary (Bill) Stokes, Bremen; Eight grand children and 14 great grandchildren

Eldon was preceded by his wife, Betty, and his parents.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10 am at First United Church of Christ, 323 South Center St., Bremen with Pastor Harry Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 4-8 pm at Mishler Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to First United Church of Christ or to Hospice of Marshall County.
