Charles "Chauncy" Sherwood

Charles "Chauncy" Sherwood, 74, of North Webster passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born October 22, 1934 in Franklin County, Indiana to Raymond and Mildra (Houlden) Sherwood. On October 24, 1990, he married Melody Shreve, she survives.

He had been a resident of North Webster for over 25 years coming from Rushville, Indiana. He retired from DANA Corporation in 1988 at which time he had over 32 years of service in the Syracuse and Rushville plants. Charles was an Army veteran serving as an engineer in Germany; was a life member of the Rushville VFW, a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, and the Eagles in Syracuse.

Other survivors include 6 children: Raymond (Julie) Sherwood of Fort Wayne; John (Genny) Mullens of Michigan City; Terre (Larry) Mick of Kingsford Heights; Tylynn Arnold of Warsaw; Tracy (Eric) Smith of Germany; and Mylynn Sherwood of Warsaw. 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. 6 Siblings: David Sherwood, Harley Sherwood, William Sherwood, Kermit Sherwood, Sandra Schroeder, and Collen Lusher all of Rushville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by 1 brother: James Sherwood and a sister: Carol Souder.

A memorial gathering will be hosted by the North Webster American Legion Post 253 on Wednesday, April 1, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM with Military Honors at 11:30 AM.
