Gerald W. McLallin, 85, of Ligonier, IN, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008, at 9:50 PM at Northridge Village, Albion, IN. He was born on June 21, 1922, in York Township, IN to parents: Lawrence & Lura (Steller) McLallin.



He married Patricia A. Warford June 20, 1943, she survives.

A lifelong area resident, Gerald was a farmer for over 50 years & drove school bus for the West Noble Community Schools for 16 years. He was a life long member of the Sparta church, served his country in the Marines from 1944-1945 during WWII, member of the Lions club for 55 years serving as president 5 times, was named Lion of the year twice & received the WP Woods award. He was a member of the Cromwell/Sparta Township American Legion Post #421 from 1945-1985 during which time he served as Chaplin & in the Color Guard. From 1985-2008 he was a member of the Ligonier American legion Post #243 where he also served in the Color guard.

Survivors include 1 Son: Michael (Dianne) McLallin of Kendallville, IN, 1 Son-in-law: Ned Gardner of Buchanan, MI, 4 Daughters: Penelope (Art) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Paula Routson of Freeport, IL, Pia (Dan) Brauser of Irving, TX. Peggy (Eric) Genshaw of Syracuse, IN, 2 Brothers: Justin McLallin of Kokomo, IN, Lindy McLallin of Wolcottville, IN, 2 Sisters: Bonita (JD) Geiger of North Webster, IN, Joan Spencer of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded by: 1 Daughter: Prudence Gardner & his parents.

Services will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2007, at 10:00 AM, at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, IN. Rev. Curryanne Hostetler & Rev. Richard Rensner and will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell, IN. Full Military Rites will be held. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 8, 2007, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
