Mary Jane Bowton

Mary Jane Bowton, a long-time Syracuse resident, died August 18th at the age of 94. She and her late husband, Kenneth L. Bowton, moved to EastShore Drive in Syracuse in 1975, after retiring from owning and operating the Dale Carnegie Course of Northern Indiana. She was active in the Calvary United Methodist Church, a member of the Church Finance Committee, Martha's Circle, and a volunteer with KiJam - an after school program for children K-5th grade. She assisted with the "For Fun Group," was a member of Round Table, delivered Meals on Wheels and drove cancer patients to appointments. Mrs. Bowton resided at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse for the past two years.

She is survived by four children, Marjory Urschel of Lafayette, Indiana; Linda Delaney of Silver Spring, Maryland; Maurine Mitchell of San Juan Capistrano, California; and Greg Bowton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces Jane Grandstaff of North Manchester, Indiana, and Jean Perry of Crown Point, Indiana.

A memorial service will be held at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse on Wednesday, August 29th, at 11:00AM. Pastor David Herr and Pastor David Marty will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice in Warsaw, Indiana.
