South Bend, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. She was born on May 13, 1920, in Bridgeport, CT to

James & Gertrude (Reiley) Sheerin

She married Michael Van Gelder on May 10, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT. He preceded her in death in September 14, 2003.

A Homemaker, Mary was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland, TX. She attended Mass at St. Paul Retirement Community.

Survivors include 4 sons: Jan (Diane) van Gelder of Dennison, TX, James (Ann) van Gelder of Bremen, Terry van Gelder of Portland, Oregon, Frank (Kate) van Gelder of Tacoma, WA, 2 local grandchildren: Michele (Timothy) Lafferty of Bremen, Stephen van Gelder of Bremen, and 6 other grandchildren residing out of state, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 sister: Helen Tanguay of Bridgeport, CT. She was preceded in death by her Husband and 3 sisters.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 10:30 AM, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Bremen. Father Polycarp Fernando will officiate. Burial will be at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM to St. Dominics Catholic Church in Bremen, Wednesday, March 21, 2007.
