Mary Lou Brewer, age 85, of Syracuse passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Dekalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana. She was born on December 31, 2007, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Floyd & Alys (Kilby) Stevens.
On December 17, 1961, she married John W. Brewer. He preceded her in death in 1998.
A lifetime area resident, Mary Lou was a school teacher with South Bend Schools for 23 years. She served her country during WWII from 1943-1945. She was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Chapel in Syracuse, a member of the Syracuse American Legion and Treasurer for the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation. Mary Lou was also a member of the Syracuse VFW and Lion's Club.
Survivors include 3 Daughters: Jacquie (Steve) Giles of Syracuse, Elizabeth (Jim) Slain of Kendallville and Michelle Jedych of Mishawaka, 1 Son: Erique Paradis of Angola, Indiana, 1 Stepson: William Gardner of Tempe, Arizona, 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson and 1 Brother: Robert Stevens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John.
Military Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at 11:00AM at the McClintic Cemtery. Pastor Larry Biller will officiate. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to The Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, PO Box 548, Syracuse, IN 46567.
