Vera V. Hummel, age 94, of Bremen, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at her residence. She was born on May 31, 1912, in St. Joseph County, Indiana, to Edward & Myrtle (Boocher) Sauer.
On December 24, 1932, she married Delbert A. Hummel. He preceded her in death in 1969.
A lifetime Bremen resident, Mrs. Hummel owned and operated Hummel Grain for several years. She was also a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and was involved with and drove the van for Pines Senior Citizen Center for many years. She loved taking Dream Tour Trips.
Survivors include 2 Daughters: Charlene F. (Tom) Guyse of Bremen and Shirley A. (Anthony) Schalliol of Wyatt; 6 Grandchildren: Robert (Angie) Julian, Denise (Dick) Swihart, Donald Dickson, Jr., Kimberly (Joel) Rodrigues, Matt (Tanya) Schalliol, Margaret Schalliol; and 10 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, 1 Grandson: James Leland Julian, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 10:30AM at the Salem United Methodist Church, 302 W. Plymouth Street, Bremen, Indiana 46506 with the Rev. Chuck Kreig officiating. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8PM Friday, January 12, 2007, at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Salem United Methodist Church in Bremen.
