Mabel Virginia Gee

December 25, 1912 — January 5, 2007

Mabel Virginia (Garber) Gee, age 94, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Huntington, retired to Barbee Lake near North Webster and Winter Haven, Florida, passed away on January 5, 2007, at Woodview Healthcare in Fort Wayne. She resided in Churubusco near her daughters for several years before moving to Fort Wayne.

She was born December 25, 1912, in Noble County to Jacob and Martha (Upson) Garber. She was a former member of the Central Christian Church in Huntington, Winter Haven, Florida, Church of God, and current member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church. She was proud of her family heritage and was a member of the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Her interests besides family, included many types of handiwork and spinning, especially for demonstration at the Forks of the Wabash Festival in Huntington.

Her husband of 70 years, Louis Harvey Gee, preceded her in death in November of 2004. She is survived by 3 daughters, Dorothy (John) Deemer of Huntington, Martha (Roger) Barnhart of Churubusco and Linda (Tim) Schoenherr of Albion. Grandchildren are Cynthia Deemer Foust, Virginia Herrick LaMaster and Barbara Herrick Giles. There are 5 great-grandchildren, Brian Foust, Matt Foust, Corinne Tartaglia, Ian Judd and Logan Braun. Special close family members also include nephew Ray A. (Kelly) Beasey of Huntington and great-niece Tracy (Kevin) Beasey Whiteleather of Fort Wayne, in addition to step-grandchildren and other loving family members.

Funeral Services will be 10:30AM Wednesday, January 10, at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, 7458 E 1000 N, Syracuse, with Pastor Chris Newman-Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM January 9, and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Churubusco United Methodist Church, 750 N Main Street, Churubusco, IN 46723, or Tamassee DAR School.
