Oakley Orvil Vanover, age 85, of Syracuse, passed away at his residence on Thursday, December 28, 2006. He was born on July 30, 1921, in Pound, Virginia.

On April 15, 1941, he married Viola V. Pocholec. She survives.

A self-employed painting contractor, Oakley was a WWII Veteran, member of the VFW in Pound, Virginia, and the VFW Post #1342 in Syracuse.

Survivors include his Wife: Viola of Syracuse, 3 Sons: Carl (Ellen) Vanover of Syracuse, Oakley (Louann) Vanover of Syracuse, Dennis Vanover of Syracuse, 1 Daughter: Francis (Larry) Troup of Syracuse, 8 grandcildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A private service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007, in Pound, Virginia. A public visitation will be held from 6-8PM Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Hamilton Chapel Church in Pound, Virginia. A full military service will be held at 1:00PM Friday, January 5, 2007, at Hamilton Chapel Church in Pound, Virginia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Care at Home Hospice Program of Goshen General Hospital, 200 High Park Avenue, Goshen, Indiana 46526.
