Alvin A. Hiatt, age 92, of Bremen, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2006, at his residence. He was born on October 7, 1914, in Garrett, Indiana, to Elbie & Beatrice (Palmer) Hiatt.
On Feburary 27, 1940, he married Vera Ada Kuhn. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2000.
Alvin moved from Plymouth to Bremen in 1948. He was a machinist at Bendix for 31 1/2 years, retiring in 1975. Alvin was also a member of the St. John Church in Woodland, a member of the Farm Bureau for several years and enjoyed farming, gardening and woodworking. He loved his dog, "Buddy."
Survivors include 2 Daughters: Phyllis (Phillip) Grove of Bremen and Shirley (Mike) Johnson of Lakeville; 5 Grandchildren: Jeff (Debbie) Grove of Bremen, Lisa Grove of Lafayette, Indiana, Teresa Getz of Bremen, Tracey Harringer of Goshen and Dan Harringer of South Bend; 7 Great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2006, at 10:30AM, at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Neil Wonnacott will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00PM on Thursday, December 14, 2006, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Marshall County or the American Heart Association.
