Hershel Caudill

Hershel Caudill, age 81, of Pierceton, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Riceville, Kentucky, on October 20, 1924, to Archie and Mary (Hackworth) Caudill.

On October 20, 1951, he married Alethea "Ellie" Kirkham. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2006.

Hershel moved to the area in the 1940s from Kentucky. He retired after 45 years as a truck driver. He was a member of the South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse since 1958 and was also an avid gardener.

Hershel is survived by 3 daughters: Kathy Williams of Pierceton; Karen Caudill of Warsaw; Kimberly (David) Ewin of Raleigh, North Carolina; 2 sons: Dennis (Rebecca) Caudill of Warsaw; Dan "Boone" (Julie) Caudill of Warsaw; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 sister: Veta (Charles) Holle of Laketon, Indiana; 2 brothers: Chester (Imogene) Caudill of Claypool; Archie (Patricia) Caudill, Jr., of Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 1 grandson: Travis Williams; 1 son-in-law: Ricky Williams; 3 sisters: Oleta, Ruby, Lena; 2 brothers: Heburn and Lester.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at 10:00AM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Pastor Harlan Steffan will officiate. Burial will follow at the McClintic Cemetery in Syracuse. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home.
