John "Bud" L. Long, Sr., age 87, of Bremen, passed away at his home on Monday, February 13, 2006. He was born on August 31, 1918, in Morocco, Indiana, to John David and Zilla E. (Gerard) Long.
Living in Bremen for the past 42 years, John was retired from Wilson Coal & Grain. He was a Bremen High School graduate and a U.S. Army WWII Veteran.
On January 20, 1962, he married Lulu M. Bailey. She survives.
Survivors include his wife: Lulu M. Long, of Bremen. A son: John L. (Alicia) Long, Jr. of Bremen, a daughter: LuAnn (Russell, Jr.) Harner of Bourbon, Indiana, and a step-son: Dan Sutton of Logansport. 9 Grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren survive. Bud has a sister, Gretchen Lee, of Bokeelia, Florida, also surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson: Don Sutton, North Carolina, 2 brothers: Gaylord "Spark" Long and Earl Long, both of Warsaw, and a sister: Gurthie Kane of Kentland, Indiana.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 6:00PM at the Community Gospel Church, State Road 331 North, Bremen. Pastor Ron Young will officiate. Friends may call from 2-4PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Community Gospel Church in Bremen (there will be no visitation at the funeral home).
Memorials may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.
