Mary A. Saunders

Mary A. Saunders, age 63, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, February 10, 2006 at Lakeland Rehab & Health Care in Milford. She was born in Randolph County on March 21, 1942, to Harold and Marie Allen.

She was a housewife and enjoyed doing word puzzles. She was a 1960 graduate of Spartanburg High School and also a graduate of Weaver Airline School in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of the Dewart Lake Community Friends Church in Syracuse and a former member of the Peaceful Valley Friends Church in Lynn, Indiana.

She is survived by her husband of 38 1/2 years, Edward "Edd" Saunders; her mother: Marie Allen Jeffers, Winchester; her children: Shirley Saunders, Dublin; William Saunders, Syracuse; Patty Saunders, Economy; Michelle Saunders, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; a sister: Harriett Johnson, Houston, Texas; two brothers: Doyle Allen, Winchester and Darrell Allen, Dayton, Ohio; step-brother: Emory Jeffers, Ft. Wayne; three step-sisters: Twila Bowser, New Haven; Rochelle Woodall, Crawfordsville; Charlotte Bliell, Fountain City; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Harold Allen; her stepfather: Donal Jeffers; a daughter: Kelly Jo Saunders; a sister: Wilma Grubbs; a great-grandchild: Jayden Griffith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at Thomas Funeral Home, 108 E. Sherman Street, Lynn, Indiana, with Pastor John Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Spartanburg Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday, February 13, 2006, from 6-8PM and one hour prior to the service time on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Dewart Lake Community Friends Church.
