Dorothy G. Streby, age 88, of North Webster, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2006, at 3:10 p.m. in the Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse of Natural Causes. She was born on April 23, 1917, in Wabash, Indiana, to George & Cleoda Hall Burns. She was adopted on March 3, 1919, in Miami County, Indiana, by Albert S. and Elsie Catherine (Hiers) McBride.
A homemaker and lifetime North Webster resident, Dorothy was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren, the Home Club, The Backwater Friend, The North Webster American Legion Auxiliary and Real Folk.
On March 12, 1938, she married H. Lewis Streby. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1992.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Nancy (Larry) Swope, North Webster, Jennie (Jerry) Stohler of North Webster, and Margaret (Paul) Karst of Pierceton. A son: Allen (Kathryn) Streby of North Webster also survives. Dorothy has 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren also surviving. She was preceded by her birth and adoptive parents, husband: H. Lewis Streby, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2006, at 10:00AM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Pastor Don Poyser will officiate. Burial will follow at the North Webster Mock Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the funeral home.
